Meet Dorothy Fleming

Hi there! I’m your newly elected State Deputy Chair. My new web site affords us an occasion of party building. Using articles, photos, and quotes, recapping what folks are saying about our Republican Party and what we can do to build the Party together. I already have many stories to tell and ideas of yours to pass along. I want you to make use of this opportunity.

While I look forward to meeting all of you, in the meantime, I thought I’d tell you just a bit about me. I’m a wife and mother of 3 daughters. (Though I am certified and completed my internship Chemical Dependency Counseling in the Minneapolis public schools, I quickly realized this wasn’t my vocation.)

My husband, Mike, owns a small promotional business in Minneapolis. My oldest daughter, Virginia, is married with 2 children at home in Fridley, MN. Number 2 daughter, Laura, is married and lives in Coon Rapids with 4 children (their 5th child, 11 yr. old Stephen was killed on his way home from school two years ago this October). Our youngest daughter, Catherine, graduated a year ago May from St. Scholastica College in Duluth. She works for LSS Data Systems and lives in St. Paul. I’m especially proud to report that we all love God, family and country and we celebrate together as often as possible.

We live in Saint Anthony where I served 5 years as a member of the City Council. Mike and I are members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mike served as Grand Knight of the Fridley KC Council and together we have been Respect Life Directors for the State KCs. We were founding board members of Human Life Alliance. Presently I serve on the Board of Cradle of Hope and the Benedictine Health Care Center of Innsbruck. Mike continues in several positions with the Knights. He serves as vice chair in our house district 54A.

Over the years I have worked on numerous campaigns and lobbied on a number of issues. In August of 2005 I joined the Bachmann Campaign and served as senior advisor of her endorsement campaign and coalitions director of the campaign. The challenge was as incredible as the candidate herself. The Bachmann campaign was second in the nation for turning out volunteers. I truly loved it. June 9, 2007 I was elected Deputy Chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.

We have a big job ahead of us in 2008—part of it is the National Convention—the greater task before us is getting Republicans out to the caucuses and victory in November’s election!
